Long overdue training and development opportunity for pastoral staff (at “nil” cost!)

As a school governor, I know that school budgets are very tight and so implementing anything in school that requires extra cash can be difficult. I also know that it has never been more important for schools to get the maximum return from all of their resources, including teaching support staff who are often overlooked when it comes to relevant and affordable CPD opportunities.
Time for the good news.
From September, all schools will be able to use their apprenticeship levy funding to develop their teaching support staff through the Evolve Health Mentor Training Programme. We have been delivering this course since 2007 and it has been responsible for many awards, most recently the Royal Society for Public Health’s Healthier Lifestyles Award.
With the increasing focus on children’s mental health and childhood obesity, there has never been a better opportunity to upskills your existing workforce to help address these challenges that will lead to improved educational outcomes. With no additional financial outlay.
Time for the bad news.
This programme is likely to be oversubscribed for the next 12 to 24 months whilst we are increasing our workforce capacity. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you take a look at the course information here, share with relevant school staff and ask them to express their interest using this link.
We will make contact with staff who have expressed interest with further information in due course but I would avoid any delay in expressing interest since we will be accepting applications on a first come, first served basis.
Note: You do not need to hire new staff to capitalise on this offer. Apprenticeship levy funding can be used to train your existing workforce.
